Gotcha, so the aeration is more akin to those two units, instead of the pump in the bounty. I hadn't seen the other setups so I thought the water was being splashed up to the sponges. Honestly, I am not even sure how my bounty works - all I know is the water splashes up toward the lid and it looks like the sponges get watered often.

So an aerator and keeping the water at a higher level will suffice?

I used 4" cylindrical air stones for these, 2 of them. The pump could control up to 4 stones. These totes grew far more than I can use. I need to find a smaller option. But they are simple to set up. The lights said 300w, but I think they have less power than the Ultras. I got rid of those lights.

No worries. That is good info. I was just unaware of how the other models worked. So instead of the water hitting the pods individually, the air stone just sits and aerates the water continuously - and you just make sure the water level is high enough?
