Well, I popped those two toms in my mouth and couldn't taste any acidity at all. Very sweet and tasted like a tomato that had the acidity removed. Very mild, smooth and easy on the palate. They are my favorite tom now. Far better than any store bought tomato I've ever eaten. (Aside from a Bradley that is. Nothin' beats a Bradley.)

I am always on the lookout for tom varieties for my boxes, Rick. How is the yield of the Bradley?

Oh, I know very little about the Bradley tomato except its taste. I don't believe our AGs could grow them. Too big. About the size of your fist. They would make a great outside plant in a small backyard garden and I recommend them highly for their taste. They are the smoothest, mildest and sweetest tomato I've ever eaten. You guys out there with a garden and yard must give the Bradley a try. You won't be sorry. That is, unless you like a strong acidity tomato, then I wouldn't recommend a Bradley.

It sounds like a variety that would be ideal for my boxes this summer. But..I grow for quantity as well because I am growing for a family..me and the squirrels. The Better Boy gives me a hue yield so I can get enough for the critters as well a myself in the end.
I will be looking into this variety more. Thanks for mentioning it, Rick.

When I moved from Cal to Ark, everybody was constantly wanting to show me stuff here in Ark and these tomatoes were one of the major things to behold. I used to live about 15 miles from the orchards and would drive there a couple times a summer to buy a half dozen of them. I now live 125 miles away and I'm not so sure my 20 year old car would make the trip. It's sad. I miss them. They are sooooo good. Oh, they can't sell them on the market because their skins are too thin. Only place to get a Bradley is down in southern AR. I have been told that they've tried to cross breed them with a tougher skinned tom but I've never seen them on the market except on a very rare occasion. And even then I wasn't so sure it was a hybrid. I just think the grocer drove to Warren and bought a few cases for his customers.

Better late than never... Day 91 and I have a ton of these things as you can see. LOL Next week is R&R and I'll start some strawberries then too. See ya next week!

Day 98 and I had a wonderful harvest. R&R and added AG's nutes. And right there to the right are strawberries. :-)

I would like to mention something before all of you jump on the band wagon. LOLOL I mentioned using Grow Big plant food on these plants but I do believe it isn't something 'we' should do. Reason is because it makes the plants produce quicker/faster but it's not ripening the fruit completely in so doing. If you look back closely to the last few pix of mine you'll see a green top where the tomato and the stem come together. That little green area is as hard as a rock and I do believe it is caused by the Grow Big plant food I used. The tom never does mature as it should. (Ya gotta live and learn, I think) Grow Big is recommended for strawberry nutes over AG's nutes. And, that is how I'm going to use it in the future. I want to apologize if I've lead anyone astray or in the wrong direction when it comes to plant food, (nutes).
I'm following this guy for strawberries. Unfortunately the volume is horrible.

Not a total waste, though. I have picked totally GREEN tomatoes in the late summer when it was time to end my Earth Box projects and prepare the boxes for Fall/Winter. I put those green toms on the table(well over 30) and eventually they ripened and got soft in the center just as if they ripened on the vine..they were delicious and tomato-y too.

I found that these Tiny Tims won't do that. That little green top stays hard and turns brownish. Day 105 and still producing in bunches. The little green areas are now starting to redden once I added AG's nutes after the R&R last week. They're recovering nicely.

Day 112 and all is well. Been eating about 6 a week and they are delicious little tomatoes. Added nutes today and topped off the water. These things sure are thirsty.

I'm late again. Haven't been feeling as good as normal. Not much to report. Although I did prune both plants back some and enjoyed a handful of toms, day 119 is not very eventful.
