A few updates! ERR0R1755, I tried your suggestion and put the cutting directly in the ground; unfortunately, it completely wilted away after just a few hours. Next time I'll try the same technique, but transplant to a pot instead. But, I think what I have here are some bell pepper buds? I've never grown these before, but this formation sure looks promising!

Sorry to hear that it didn't work out :c
Did you harden it off and water it thoroughly when transplanting? If it wilted that fast, it sounds like it might have gotten cooked by the sun. I always prefer to do my outdoor transplants late in the day, around sunset, so that the plants have plenty of time to acclimate to the soil.

Hi ERR0R1755! Yes, I watered it quite thoroughly, but I think the sun probably did it in. Next time I'll be more careful. Or I'll just do a transplant into a pot! We'll see. In the meantime, I'm excited about the peppers that are (hopefully) in my future!

I've been pollinating away, and I have some baby peppers to show for it! Here's the biggest one. I have three pepper plants, but I recently moved the smallest one into a pot because it was getting crowded out in the Aerogarden. It sits right behind it's other pepper friends and gets plenty of light from that Bounty and my three other machines, too. It is developing lots of little pepper friends of its own!

Nice! How are you finding the growing on each? DO you see one growing better or faster? Potted vs AG

Thanks Shawn! For the peppers they are growing at about the same rate! But that's because I didn't move the third plant into the pot until it was just about to bud. If I had moved it earlier, I think it would be far behind the others. I noticed this with my fairy tale eggplants; I had 3 pods in the unit, but moved the third out because it was getting too crowded. That plant is also in a pot, and doing well, but while the two AG eggplant have lots of flowers and some baby eggplants, the one in the pot is just beginning to develop some unopened buds. So it's quite far behind them.

That information about when to transplant is new to me. Thanks, Akiva!

You're welcome! I want to be clear (I don't think my initial post about this was): I transplanted when the buds were about to open (not when it was just starting to develop them. I don't know why I thought "just about to bud" would convey that, haha). I decided to do it this way after I saw how behind my eggplant was because it was transplanted so early. I've been able to cross-pollinate between all three pepper plants because of the timing! But I've only been cross-pollinating between the two eggplants in the Aerogarden, nothing to pollinate yet on the one in the pot. Hopefully the timing will still work out in my favor!
