Buds and blossoms on the Aji Chombo, right on schedule. Also have a few on the neighboring white habanero plant.

Don't know what I did wrong, but both plants up and died. Probably pH issues.

I think so. Once I get my energy back.
I have never been so sick in one winter. After I got over my cold during last weekend, I came back to work with muscle pains that by Saturday have graduated into lower back pain that almost has me immobilized.

Oh no, Dawn, I’m sorry to hear that! I didn’t realize you were sick. It’s bad this year, you have my sympathy. I’ve been putting off non-essential but needed Dr appointments because I’m afraid to catch anything while there.

Well, I've cranked the "sleep number" up to "hardwood floor" and I've actually improved in the last couple of days. Realizing that part of the mess is that I'm spending too much time in bed, I tried coming in to work today out of sheer boredom. It's going better than I expected.
I think in general my inflammation's up due to cheating on my starch/sugar intake. When I gave those up permanently, my back problems went away almost overnight. This is the first I've had in several years.

Feeling better, yes, but my next milestone will be to be able to stand up with making a lot of grunting and cussing noises.

This is the first I've had in several years. Fascinating. A lot of my husband’s (inflammatory) symptoms are alleviated by a super strict non-starch diet too. (Didn’t help me. Pinched nerve problem, not inflammatory). I’m so glad you’re improving.

THe "anti-inflammatory" diet never helped me either, even before the nerve issue. I wish it did too.

As it happens, starch is nothing but sugar, and sugar (along with insulin) is VERY inflammatory. If you've got inflammation problems, it's at least worth a try, especially if you have high blood pressure.
Not everything works for everyone, though.

All simple carbs turn to sugar/glucose in the body. A white potato, piece of white bread and a handful of sugar are all the same. I've been a Low Carber since the 80's. Carbs are not my friend. Anytime I've strayed I get sick, gain weight, etc. America has a real issue with processed foods and carby diets. I've traveled most of the planet, and truthfully it's shameful what and how much we eat compared to EVERYWHERE else.

I went ketogenic about 6 years ago, mainly to address my blood sugar, but when I also saw my blood pressure drop back to normal, all my body aches go away and a half-dozen more minor issues go away, I knew I was on to something very important.
And even though I've successfully given up most carbs (and I do mean most - bunless hamburgers, scraping all the cheese and toppings off pizza, eating that and discarding the crust, no more pasta, no starchy veggies, no sweet fruit (peppers and some tomatoes are still ok)), I've been slipping a bit lately with the occasional sushi dinner (I eat mostly sashimi, but I miss my spider rolls) or peking ravioli, and BOOM! My back goes out.
Time for me to go back to basic principles on my diet.
A couple years ago, I met my priest for dinner at a Vietnamese place (his favorite) and without thinking, I had a bowl of Pho. Afterwards, I was so stoned on the buzz from the starch in all the noodles, I questioned my own ability to drive home. Then, there were the following two days of feeling horrible.
Like any addiction, sugar is a hard habit to break, and I always have to think in terms of what to do when I relapse, because I know it's going to happen sooner or later.

I do not use salt, stay away from sugars best I can and try to limit carbs. I can not go carbless. I know me and it can not be done.
I have done all protein, veggies meals, then I try to keep all carb meals together. I find less bloat when I do not mix the two often.
