It seems from the photo that the higher you raise the hood, the taller the vines will stretch upwards towards them and grow leaves. Clipping off those tall vines is one way to approach it, I guess, and then training the vines to wrap around the sticks with a lower hood. The higher the hood , the more they will stretch upward for light.

Thanks, Corinne. I will clip them off where they start getting skinny and lanky.

I topped the plants so that they are 3-4" under the light.
Several of the bottom leaves were dying due to lack of light. So I removed them and mounted an LED bulb with the diffuser removed. I aimed it at the bottom of the plants for added light.
I still have to tie the beans to the stakes.

So far, I am not very impressed with how these are growing. I have had to remove a lot of large leaves that were blocking light.
I wish I had chosen peas!

I may do that, Shawn. I am not enjoying growing these beans.

I just ordered the seeds.
I will terminate the beans tonight and continue the GAL with Tom Thumb peas, if that is okay.
Edit: (Changed my mind about terminating them.)

The beans looked ok to me! The hood still had a ways to go, right?

No, it was at max height, Corinne. It just doesn't show the 24" height properly in my pictures.

I gave them 2 ml each of AG nutrients and Calmag. They may need a little phosphorus, will wait and see.

Are these a bush variety?

Yes, they are a bush variety, but they have a tendency to want to vine, too.

I had to remove a lot of leaves that were burnt by the light, that were growing way out of the light, and that were blocking light to other plants.
But there are flowers!

I do need to learn to be more patient with plants that aren't meeting my expectations!

The beans are starting to look more like beans. There are not a lot -- at least, not yet.
