I haven't heard of the varieties you're planting. Curious to see how they taste and turn out. Looks like you're giving them lots of space. I just started an AG basil garden last week also.. much smaller varietal - Emily basil.

I love growing basil as I use it alot. I have grown all except the new Renee's Sweet Green. The Napoletano has an anise flavor to it that goes well with my Marinara sauce.
We have a great thread for Basil called Flavors or Basil. Not all basil is listed but there are for many that members have tried.
I look forward to seeing yours grow and hearing what you think of each.

Great thread. I’ll update once my Emily basil comes up. I have grown Genovese, Thai, and lettuce basil in the past. The lettuce basil was my favorite in a grilled chicken sandwich with some gouda, pickles, and mustard, yum. The sweet green sounds intriguing, I have been thinking of growing a sweet basil

waterphoenix, the lettuce basil sounds like a must grow. I had not heard of it before. I grew it in a pot on the patio over the summer and it did well there. It might be a bit large for a harvest model. The leaves were big, crunchy, and tasted mildly of basil.

I grew my lettuce basil in a harvest. Yes they are large leaves. The Napoleon Basil also have large leaves

I got them from park seed, here is the link
Here's a pic of the plant on the patio, and of the leaves dressing up a humble chick-fil-a sandwich, with calypso cilantro.

The different leaf textures on each basil plant are interesting. The Napoletano reminds me of lettuce basil. I bet it will be delicious.
