Happy, are any of these bitter? I ask because I am not a fan of bitter. One of the reasons I never tried choi.

I find that they’re all similar in taste. They all do get bitter however as they get older, so the thing is to stagger them so that you’re always eating young plants. But again, honestly there’s no reason to grow anything other than Dragoon, other than for fun.
If you’d like me to send you samples of any of the above, please PM me and I’ll be happy to.

Also, it seems to me that the loose leaf lettuces like salad bowl tend to be sweeter than the romaines. I grow Romaines mainly, because they seem to be more compact and possibly more nutritious than the loose leaf lettuces.

Happy, thank you for the lettuce suggestions. I am a newby and growing the heirloom lettuce pods as my first go.
You may have stated this already but I haven't come across it yet but how many seedlings to you let grow per pod?

Welcome, Karen.
I am still adjusting the number of seeds I plant per pod. I used to plant up to six and now I’m down to one or two.
The photos of my adolescent plants always look better than my mature plants, because they had not become overcrowded. So I’m still experimenting with one or two seeds per pod.
Have fun with your lettuces!

Welcome KarenR . I am happy you have joined us
I always plant 2-3 seeds per pod. I may start doing just two. I have yet to thin any out. I do not use the AG kits, I do custom seeds, But if memory serves, AG adds up to 5 seeds I think.
Also according the the AG Guide, you do not need to thin lettuce. You can find the guides here.
I hope that has helped a bit.
