These are growing so SLOW... My gardens seem to be kinda stalled at the moment. Maybe the thermostat is set too high for them--although their room has all the vents closed. It's been so cold at night, I've had the thermostat at 72. It's really hard to regulate the heat in our place, because the thermostat is badly placed.

The thought had occurred to me. It's time to get someone in to have a look, even though the furnace is fairly new. I think it's about 5-6 years old. Can't remember exactly when we replaced it, because COVID eclipsed all thoughts of routine maintenance visits. The thermostat placement is still a major problem, though.

If you have a good/knowledgeable HVAC person, they may be able to help find a solution to the situation. Maybe moving the thermostat? Maybe something else... DH does the filter cleaning and changing for us, as the system alerts...and then once a year, we have the guys come give it the once over too. Sure beats trying to stoke the fireplace 24/7!

So this morning I went to feed them and I saw a gnat. And I looked closer and the pods were filled with them. I quickly unplugged and brought the whole unit outside. I think I have potting soil and if I do I will replant them. If not, the garbage will see them. I also brought out my indoor bug zappers that I bought last year. Thankfully I checked my farms and they are bug free (knocking wood and saying prayers) but I also put a few flower stickies in there just in case.
I am so mad right now for several reasons. One I no longer have flowers onmy desk and will have to start over with something else, try to catch the gnats that flew away on our way to door (just killed one) ...

Shawn Do you still have your electric Katchy device? Mine works pretty well on gnats. It cleaned up a real infestation, once I found the gnats' breeding area in the potato bin and disposed of the potatoes.

Yes I still use it. I put it away for the winter but brought it back out when I saw the gnats. When I tell you there were a ton of them flying around I was finding them all over and in the Katchy. This morning they seem to be gone but they were int he pods, on and in the leaves, in the water unit... everywhere. I could not keep it in the house. I hate bugs in the house
