lynnee, that is great to hear! I have some AG golden harvest and red heirloom growing now in a Farm 12XL. Do you recommend adding CalMag even if you use tap water? I've read different things about this. Yes, I use tap water, and the CalMag improves the flavor.

My banana peppers are doing great, even the little "culls" that I thinned and moved to their own sponge/baskets. In other news, the Iznik cucumber plant that I moved to a grow bag on the patio was doing great out there. It was about a foot tall and gorgeous green leaves; putting out its first tendrils. So I went out to water this morning and it had been totally decimated by some stupid animal. All that's left of it is a nub of the stem. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

lynnee-- so true. In my raised beds, something was eating the bottoms off of my tomatoes and leaving the top half hanging on the plant. So annoying. We live close to a wooded area so there are plenty of possums and raccoons...many of them are drawn to the pool in this drought and heat.

The lettuce looks awesome! How many pods did you use in the Harvest?
Also can you elaborate on the green onions grown from roots. I tried some seed in the spring and animals kept digging the seed up. Would love to replicate what you have done.

Would love to replicate what you have done. Haha, I always fill every hole when I grow lettuce. I've never had a problem doing that and we like lots of lettuce. Some people prefer to space it out for ease of harvesting but I just go for it!!
For the onions, just take grocery-store (or wherever) green onions and cut about 1.5" or so off the root end. Place as many of those cut ends as you can cram into a grow basket (NO sponge needed). You can then cover any open area on top of the basket with aluminum foil to keep out light and algae, then just place in the AG. (I forgot to do this last time and didn't have any problem.)
Within a day you should see new growth starting, and in a week you'll have green onions. You can clip the green parts and they will regrow a few times before you have to terminate and start fresh.
I used to do this in a glass of water. Green onions are extremely easy to "re-grow."

A very kind and generous benefactor sent me two trellises for my Harvest XLs, and I received them today. I am so thrilled and grateful. Yippee!!! (And thanks again...you know who you are!! )

Today I re-homed the green onions so I could adjust the lights lower for the little fajita peppers. I have more green onions in the fridge drawer with sad looking tops so I may start some more of those.
I did my first pruning of the Iznik... a couple of big leaves off the bottom and several suckers. I was excited and thrilled to find 3 tiny cucumbers!! I hope they make it but we'll see. I'll be checking them out at least twice a day.
I'm finally seeing some sprouts on the petunia seeds but those things are taking forever. And of course, the cilantro is still a no-go. I may have to rely on grocery store cilantro at this rate.

(And thanks again...you know who you are!! ) I did a "try on" with the extra trellises today. They fit well on the existing trellis with about 2" of space between the top trellis and the light hood. I'm sure this setup will work better with the light removed and use the suspended grow light. I'm so thrilled to have these; such a great addition to my Harvest XLs.

Well, I messed up that last post. The light post is not extended all the way so there is more space available when the light is at full extension. Also, the light doesn't come off for ease of use with the suspended light panel. (Sorry my brain took a vacation, confusing Bounty with Harvest XL.)

slw, the light hood on the harvest XL does come off.
There is a little white square tab on the back of the hood. Push it IN with your fingernail or a small screwdriver and pull the hood up off of the post. Underneath, there is a USB connector that the hood pushes into.

Thanks, scarfguy . I found that little button last night but could not get the light off; I was afraid I was going to break it so I gave up. I can't remember putting the XL together.
As for what I did with my Aerogardens today... checked water, added nutes to the Iznik. I can find 7 tiny cucumbers on the vine which is exciting, though I know they will likely fall off. Still fun to see them there.
For you veterans of the cucumber wars, I read about all kinds of nutes being given. How did you determine what/when to add those? I have decided to simply use the AG nutes on the regular schedule and see what happens. I don't understand why/when to add other stuff. So far the vine looks gorgeous but we all know how fast things can go south, haha.
In other news, I saw another hydroponic system available on the Amazon Vine program (where Vine reviewers can get freebies for an unbiased review). It looks interesting because it has an adjustable height and angle grow light that is removable. I haven't seen a "tabletop" system with a light angle that can be adjusted. It has a 26W full spectrum light, 21" grow height and a 3L water tank. It holds 8 pods and supposedly the AG pods will work with the system. (My biggest gripe about the SpiderFarmer hydroponic system is that AG pods won't fit it.) So it should arrive tomorrow and I'll have to see where I can wedge it in to test it.
Here's the info

Yea, removing the light hood from the harvest XL takes a little dexterity. You have to push in the white tab with one hand, hold the post tight with the other hand, and pull up and wiggle the light hood with your third hand.... You do have 3 hands don't you?
