Since this thread is already in place, here's a picture of some vintage 2009 Aerogarden liquid nutrients. These are what I have always thought of as the "soy sauce packet" style. I particularly like the "Do not eat." warning! I don't think these would taste very good with fried rice or potstickers.... This nutrient style took the place of the original "tablets" that came in long connected plastic strips with perforations between each packet. I did find a few of those at one point, but they were badly deteriorated and I tossed them.

Spacers were also different back in the 2008–2010 era. First there were the red spacers, and these came in seed pod kits that needed them. I remember getting Mega Cherry Tomatoes with my assorted 6E+ and Veggie Pro models, and instead of having six seed pods, you'd get a couple of seed pods and then enough spacers to fill in the empty spaces in the garden. Made it impossible to overplant! I'm sure some people were aggravated by fewer seed pods in a kit for a garden with 6 pod holes though. When I got the Harvest Elite 360, I was pleasantly surprised to get 6 heirloom cherry tomato seed pods! Probably a better bet for the buyer to get something that would germinate too. Unlike the modern spacers sold by Aerogarden, the red spacers don't click into place, they sit loosely in the pod-basket holes. It's easy to knock them askew. They don't work well in the new LED gardens because the lighting is stronger, so if knocked askew, the translucent plastic lets light in and then algae forms. A later green label variation does click into the old gardens, it's a simple label stuck on a standard grow basket.

The nutrient packets are fascinating, pfunnyjoy! I never saw any of those before.

The nutrient packets are fascinating, pfunnyjoy ! I never saw any of those before. I figured probably not many had seen those before, so I definitely wanted to photo them and post before tossing. They were interesting. Sometimes the contents partially solidified in spots and you had to squeeze the packet about to get it all mixed up again. Bottled liquid nutrients of the modern era are definitely easier. And less wasteful with the plastic.
