I picked a bunch of small cucumbers a few days back and made slw recipe and wow. I made 2 semi big size glass jars worth so I adjusted quantity in the recipe that's it. They taste great and probably will not last long at all. Thx for the recipe slw ........... 20240915_113330 Yummy I am sure I will be making this again before the cucumber patch stop producing for the year. Yum!! Isn't that a great recipe?? Sometimes I like to use my ripple cutter on my mandoline so I can have the "store bought pickle" look. These are our favorite Bread & Butter pickles. I'm glad they turned out great for you!!

Oh, and p.s. If you have a random cuke after you eat those pickles, just slice it and toss it into that brine for a couple of days. It's not as vivid a flavor but still good!

Hoom-hah! Hot Damn! And Whatnot! I made that pickle recipe. Check it out -- On the right, we have bread and butter pickles made according to slw 's excellent recipe. But in order to get the sugar down, I used Splenda and Splenda brown sugar. Tastes great, and it didn't even get cloudy. Important note: You can do this with Splenda because Splenda doesn't break down under high temperatures like most of the sugar substitutes. On the left, we have some pickled Vidalia onions, using the same recipe plus a couple teaspoons of Hatch chili pepper flakes from the Chez Clovis dehydrator. I do love me some pickled Vidalia onions, but I can never find them in stores and they cost almost 12 bucks for a 16 ounce jar from Amazon. And below we have the leftovers -- extra B&B pickles and pickled onions because I cut up too many cucumbers and onions. That Mt. Olive Simply Vidalia jar is what would cost 12 bucks from Amazon. How's that for someone who has never used a Ball jar for anything in his life but for storing change? (And thanks to slw for the recipe and to LoveSalads for the inspiring and mouth-watering picture.)
