You are right about the air roots developing. I've had trouble with seedlings in AG units in the kitchen, possibly due to the nearby air purifier, but for whatever reason, that doesn't bother the microgreens. But I'll try my next Kratky experiment elsewhere, to rule that out. I think I need to do more reading up on Kratky.

Wow, do I ever have greenhouse envy, Moonshadows ! Yours is beautifully kept, and full of happy plants! Since you like experimenting, you might want to pick up a cheap AG Bounty (I like the Elites with all the bells and whistles best). The Bounty is the most versatle of all the AGs. AGs usually last for several years. AGs are the best, but there are plenty of similar, competing systems now. If you like the AG approach, you can get some of those later. The reason I have so many AGs--about 20 Harvests, Bounties, Farms altogether--is that husband and I are hooked on fresh lettuce and tomatoes. We have very little space for in-soil gardening, or even raised-bed gardening. I grow lettuce (including Romaine) and tomatoes all the time, and use the other AGs for experimenting with veggies like eggplants and small melons. AGs are great for experimenting, because if something doesn't work out, you can just terminate the garden and start over. I also use AGs to grow flowers for the condo front entry display (see my avatar). The flowers grown from seed do far better than the small seedling plants sold by local retail outlets, and are much cheaper! I've grown lavender and a strawberry (from a retail crown) in Kratkys, but found Kratkys too fiddly to maintain, compared to AGs.
