2 days ago (on Day 35), the first flower bloomed on the plant in the middle pod with the red stem! It closed the same night. I'm still waiting for the other 2 buds to open. In the meantime, I've already had to raise the hood again for the plant next to it.

Day 38. There are 2 red flowers back-to-back so I could only get a good shot of one of them. Looks like the other one will be blooming soon:

Nice! Is the bloom from the plant that looks like rosemary, or the other one?

Really nice. I love wildflowers. I have several growing on my property that I brought in from roadsides and fields over the years. Luckily, I live in a town that's not so buttoned up that wildflowers are too "wild" for their sensibilities.

I ended up picking the snapdragons to bring to my mom on Mothers' Day, and terminated the project shortly after that. The pod that I moved to another machine ended up being dusty miller.

The plant that looks kind of like rosemary with the red flowers is Portulaca.

The plant that looks kind of like rosemary with the red flowers is Portulaca. YES! That's it exactly! I was puzzled about that because it looked familiar from a garden plant a few years back! Thanks for identifying it, no1.

I should have known that. EVERY year since I was a teenager my mother had them everywhere. Around the lamp post, around the trees and the front of her house. AND she would have me do all the weeding with her and my dad.
Maybe that is why I did not recognize them. I hated that chore.
