Can seeds be black and be ok? These look kinda off to me. They were given to me and are prolly a year old. I read seeds can be viable up to two years but these look strange.. cant get a closer shot, hopefully you can zoom.

give them a shot. Can’t hurt right?
Chives are funny. If they don't come up I can send you some chive seeds if you want.

Is it the label or the seed you feel is off?

I have never grown chives yet So I have no clue what the seeds should look like or how long they take to germinate. Sorry.

I have not grown chives a lot, but the times I have..both kits and seed packs, the seeds were black. I think that is the color of the seed.

Good to know. I felt the seeds looked weird, kinda funny shape and stuck together but i also have never seen them before so was just checking if thats usual. I did start them so we will see if they go.

I agree with Corinne, chive seeds are black. And when in an AG kit pod, they’re somehow glued in there so they don’t dislodge during shipping.

Sadly none of these ever sprouted. Hopefully they were just old.

Bummer. Well, at least you have another cage for a future pod.
