Since we were chatting about AGs in the bedroom on the Christmas List thread, I figured that I'd start a new thread on the topic.
I've had other AGs in the bedroom (but not on the nightstand) for a few months now. Since the Harvests make periodic noises (pump?), I have all of my bedroom harvests on a power strip (I got the kind that also has a circuit breaker in it for safety.) and we turn it off at bedtime. Even with the reduced hours of light, my lettuce does fine.
I don't know about LEDs damaging the eyes, but there is certainly research that they can contribute to preventing melatonin release, thereby making it harder to fall asleep. I try to wear blue-blocking reading glasses at night, anyway.
I'll have to ask AG if the new 360Harvests have an air pump (with a noise that I find annoying) or the water pump, which might click at night. In any case, I'll put them on power strips, so it will be easy to "unplug" them. @cornne, what kind of pump does your Slim have? Does it click?

Purchased, but in transit. I have had Harvests and Sprouts, but have not heard of a click. I have no idea what that is. And..I am a solid sleeper, so pumps dont wake me.

It's more of a clunk sound. How nice that you're a good sleeper!

By click do you mean when the pump turns on once an hour? When it first turns on?

I have three extras in my bedroom. They come on at 4:00 AM (standard time) and turn off around 8:00 PM. This pretty much matches when I get up in the morning and when I should start thinking of going to bed in the evening.
The light itself doesn't bother me in any immediate sense, but a year ago, I had a few hundred watts more of grow lights on the same schedule, and I'm pretty sure they played hell with my circadian rhythms, and by extension, my mood. When I move, I think I'm going to change to a "no aerogarden in the bedroom" policy.
Aside from that, they make noise. Usually water gurgling, with variations depending on how much water is currently in the basin. Personally, I find it to be a pleasant white noise that covers up all the disturbing sounds that my cat is making elsewhere, so it's not really a bother.
I will say that if you're at all prone to any sort of seasonal affective disorder, you should be very careful with these. They might help, or (in my case) they might hurt. You'll probably need to experiment.

Aside from that, they make noise. Usually water gurgling, with variations depending on how much water is currently in the basin... That's why I have them all on a surge protector power strip (with a circuit breaker in case my old apartment wires get overloaded) like this one.www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y5FTXV7/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1This way it's easy to flip one switch to disconnect all the AGs for the night, and then one switch back to turn them on for the day. My lettuce doesn't seem to mind the reduced hours of light.
