I’ve been having some neck pain recently that’s making it difficult to sleep through the night. (Don’t worry. I’ve seen doctors and I’m working through PT now.) So I was up a little before this morning since I was unable to sleep. After checking on the gardens (because that’s obviously the first thing I do after waking up) and finding my mini petunias in a dry state, I decided to quietly dig through some of my electronics gear in the garage.
And now my petunias can text me when they need water. 😂
I realize that:
1. It’s ugly.
2. Off-the-shelf gear can be purchased to do the same thing for pretty cheap.
However, it was fun to put together and the sensor and micro-controller cost me less than $25. I doubt I’ll leave it there permanently but I’m enjoying the novelty of it for now. 🙃
