I know that AG sells beet pods, but my beet adventure didn't work out so well. MI Gardener Beet Mix must have some hefty root varieties in it. Before the greens got as big as my chard gets, the roots grew huge in my Farm pods. I can't even get them out to put in compost and to re-use the baskets.

WOW, they sure did get big. Have you tried a utility scissor to cut the cage off?
THis was a good adventure and test.

Scissors didn't originally work on the beet roots. So I put the roots/cages on a warm window sill to dehydrate. After a few days, I was able to pull out the roots and put them in compost.

That was good! At least you removed them without any harm.

We’re you able to enjoy any of the greens before you had to toss it?

Now that AG sells beet greens I’ve ordered some pods and I’m so excited. I wonder how big those roots will get to be Edit: You can see where I am worried about the root sizes by seeing my first attempt at growing custom beets at aerogardenaddicts.com/post/18827

I did not get any large root / beet growing. I was happy with the flavor the better greens, but they never grew very large or dense. But that one pod and that whole garden was a little underwhelming over all. I will be interested to see what you can do with the AG pods since you are adept with various greens!

Those both look like great varieties, Happy. The Cylindras sound like they'd produce more greens, but also a larger taproot. Would be very interested to see your results if you decided to buy some and plant!

Ordered and received I'm just waiting for room in one of my smaller AGs. (I don't want to invest Farm real estate in something that might not do well.)

Wondering how the Fresh Start seeds turned out?
I have just ordered my first AG... and subsequently found this forum trying to find out about their AWFUL post-sale handling and shipping, it’s been six days and my charge is still in limbo, meanwhile they have fire sale-d almost all existing inventory so who knows if I’ll actually get one or not? Looks like I shoulda sprung for paying for shipping! Kinda frustrating after the barrage of daily emails and deep discounts to get you to buy something from them in the first place.
