Hi all, I've been having so much fun with my strawberry plants that I wanted to start another garden and bought another 3 hole Sprout.
1. Deer Tongue 2. Parris Island 3. Black Seeded Simpson
I've never heard of these lettuces but wanted to try something different so here I go. On the 21st will be one week of growth and I'll post pix then. All have sprouted, BTW.
These AeroGaedens are a gas. I wish I had more room in this tiny apartment of mine for more Gardens.

Those are all three delicious varieties! I grew all three in my first AG salad garden, and while I cannot remember specifically what each one was like (I always harvested a variety to make a salad), I loved my AG lettuce. So much more flavorful, filling, and healthy feeling. I know it sounds like hyperbole, but when I would eat a salad with my AG greens, I always felt such a surge of energy after. Maybe placebo effect, but those afternoon salads got me through many a dreary day this past winter (and by past I mean like a few weeks, as winter just kind of ended here about 10 days ago). Congrats and good luck!

Thanks, ClumsyThumbs. I'm looking forward to them. OK, we're on day 7 for the lettuces, they're on the right side and seem to be doing quite well.
I wasn't sure if the center plant was even going to make it. It's about 4 days behind the other two.
Hope everyone is doing OK.

Looks good. I have found when I had my Sprout (and even in other machines) that there can be one hole that does not grow as fast. Try switching the slow pod with a pod that grows faster. It may catch up

I also find some pod locations can make a difference in both my Bounty and Ultras. I also rotate, if I do not see action. What I find funny is how the same pod type, one can sprout in a day and the other will take longer. You are well on your way!

Thanks, Clumsythumbs.
My lettuces are doing well after 14 days. In another 2 weeks, I could make a small salad.

Look, 4 days later! They're huge!
18 days to be exact. How long should I wait before giving them a 'haircut' and enjoying the harvest?

I personally would wait a little longer. The earliest I ever cut mine were at 4 weeks.

I harvested mine around 18 days, but I think in retrospect should have waited longer. They were also a bit more mature than yours look, so I would wait a little longer.

I couldn't contain myself and pinched off a couple leaves and popped them in my mouth along with a slice of tomato and a little salad dressing... boy! that was good. YUMMY! I think I'll go ahead and wait another week before harvesting. That'll be one month or 28 days anyway.
I believe we're on day 21 now and I owe you guys a few pix. OK, coming up a little later.

I added 5 ice cubes this morning and growth is abundant everywhere! It 'spurted' upwards.
Thanks, Guys, Rick

I built myself a lettuce and tomato sandwich today at noon. Unfortunately, I had no meat or cheese but I do like Miricle Whip and covered both pieces of bread with it. I then laid down a bed of freshly grown lettuce leaves from my AG garden to place sliced tomatoes on top. After assembly, I used my new dentures to devour it. Yummy, that thing was good!

My avocado is now fully ripened and I've boiled myself a pot of Dark Red Kidney beans, (I love a tablespoon or two of these on a salad.). I've made my favorite dressing (French) and will mince up a bit of red onion to add to my freshly grown salad leaves alongside sliced tomatoe. My mouth is watering just thinking about this as I type... YUM! I'm looking forward to noon today.

Gotta tell ya, that was delicious! What a great salad that was.
OK, now, you guys are saying that I should only take 3 harvests and then trash the plants? The leaves will be a bit bitter tasting after 3? Is that right?
Thanks, Rick
