I invested in some garlic bulbs along with my last Burpee order. I left them on a shelf that gets light, so they've all started sprouting at once. Great if I had outdoor garden to put them in, not so great for squeezing them in to the AGs. I've got two Bounties, half a Farm Plus and a few others sharing with other crops for now. Only 2/3rds or so have sprouted. I'm assuming some won't make it, and as the rest sprout I can use them to replace what I've lost. I'm trying a new medium with these- rockwool cubes. They aren't really cheaper than AG sponges, but they are lighter and theoretically reusable as they are actually made of rocks. They worked really nice for this as I could push the bottom of the cloves into the cube and it would hold its shape. Another bonus is that they are slightly bigger than the AG cages, so they do a better job of blocking the light than AG sponges.

Already a big difference between these and store bought- as opposed to a few animes roots, some of these are doing their best to push themselves up out of the rockwool. I got up this morning an one had actually fallen out. Only a couple of the remaining bulbs are showing signs of sprouting, but currently I am standing at 43 cloves planted- almost two full Farms worth. Fortunately, I can spare the space right now if they all take off.

I went through them all and threw out the ones that haven't rooted or have rotted. I ended up with 23 so I added one of the remaining bulbs to make it an even Farm.

How is the garlic coming along?

Unfortunately they all rotted at the base. Apparently the grow grips I used for the onions helped stopped that from happening, even if it made it hard for them to root.

I don't have anything special planned atm. Mostly just keeping things going while I work on some other life stuff.
