I just planted these varieties about a week ago.(2 seeds in each pod.) Should I thin these out?

I just planted these varieties about a week ago.(2 seeds in each pod.) Should I thin these out? You got spinach to germinate? If so, please tell us how you did it! As for kale, lettuce and arugula, I wouldn't thin them out. On the other hand, I don't mind that my greens get loosey-goosey. I just cut individual leaves off when they're up to a decent size. And I terminate my gardens before some other people might, as I don't like the roots getting too big and nasty.

I check today and you are right. My spinach didn’t germinate. How come?

I wouldn't give up on it yet, but most people are completely unsuccessful. I've heard that people have been able to get it to germinate by starting the seeds in the fridge. I'll start a thread to see if anybody here knows how.

Day 37. Should I harvest now? The kale and Arugala grew well but the butter crunch didn't. I've tried my luck at some different green lettuces (paris, butter crunch, romain). All have burnt ends and don't grow that high. Any tips? I've tried adding cold water, keeping the light high, and reducing the nutes. kalelettuce37 by Troy Burton, on Flickr

I would pinch off the larger, outer leaves... and eat them! Your plants will thank you for the breathing room.
Those varieties of romaine you've planted all do poorly in my Farms. It sounds like raising the lights and lowering the nutes is a good thing. I find that the loose-leaf lettuces do better:
Other greens do better in a Farm:

To answer you question, YES, go right ahead and start harvesting and enjoy a wonderful salad. I'm growing Buttercrunch as of right now myself in a Harvest and it is a slow grower but good to eat when harvest time comes. Hang in there, give it time.

I am a very new member and on my first crops in my 2 new AeroGardens. In my Harvest Elite I have 6 varieties of Heirloom lettuce that I ordered with the garden. That was very easy- everything sprouted in 3-5 days. In my Bounty Elite I have Kale, Swiss Chard, and YES- Spinach. After reading about all the problems others are having getting Spinach to germinate, I took a different approach. I put the spinach seeds in the refrigerator until my garden arrived. Then I put about 12 seeds in water and put that in the refrigerator overnight. The next day I spread them on a wet paper towel and put it in a plastic bag. 2-3 days later they were germinating. At this point I carefully transferred the germinated seeds to foam plugs and put them in the garden. Now I have 3 small spinach plants emerging. I did originally try putting some seeds directly in the plugs but nothing happened. I will send pictures when they are a bit larger.
So much to grow and so little space- no wonder people are addicted to these gardens.

That is great! Would you mind if I quoted this information and placed it in a separate thread in the Vegetable and Fruit section?
