I am looking into getting a second machine but wanted to check in with people on what they do when the lights stop working? I've googled and gone through this forum and it looks like the LED lights cannot be replaced?
I prefer not to throw out an otherwise working aerogarden and hope there is a way to mod it. Aside from the cost, not keen on the environmental waste related to buying and tossing once the lights go out.

About the only2 things I could find through the years is to get yourself a person who knows about electricity and have them fiddle with it(hoping they don;t start some kind of fire in the walls or sparking against the curtains in the future) or Buy a replacement hood from Aerogarden. They are not advertised, but they do have them for sale at request. But buying a Bounty for cheap off Woot or another place with a good deal is the same price as a replacement hood..maybe cheaper.

Thanks Corinne for your response and for the heads up regarding replacement hoods not being listed. It looks like the harvest elite does not have a replacement hood based on manufacturing. I find it irksome that the expect people to buy a whole new system :/ That said, just placed my order for a bounty. In the meantime, I'm going to look into alternative light systems that I might be able to create.

I know of only the Tall machines having a replacement hood. You may try your local CraigsList for used machines and just purchase it for the working parts. I have done that with the old CFL machines in the past.

Congratulations on buying the Bounty. I love mine. Even if you only get to use it for 2 or 3 years, I think that you will find the sheer enjoyment of growing in one is worth it.
I agree with you about the environmental waste, though. And it's very high priced for its expected lifetime.
But once the Aerogarden bug bites, you "need" them!

I've just set it up, along with three tomato plants an some lettuce! I'll be doing some research in the meantime on possible workarounds for the day it becomes obsolete lol

In an effort to reduce waste, I suppose you could buy an LED plant lamp array from a gardening store and make a stand for it. as long as the base work lamps can be pretty cheap .
