How do you folks who have Sprouts feel about growing herbs in them ?

It’s on sale today only for $70 - is that a good price?

I never tried herbs in the sprout,(that I remember anyway) but I imagine they would do well as to height if kept trimmed. But you know about the height because you grow them all the time. As to the method, if you have grown them in the old AG3 which bubbles, it is the same with the Sprout..just has Led rather than 1 CFL, and rectangular shape rather than round. That is a very good price.

I've grown Cilantro in a sprout and that worked out well enough, but any kind of basil would probably fill the entire unit and take over the neighboring counter space.

I grew Basil and it was perfectly successful.

With my herbs I never plant in all 7 pods anyway because they always get over crowded that way. I’m wondering if planting in just the outer 2 of 3 pods would alleviate crowding enough. I’d love to use less counter space. And Corinne thank you for the info re:price.
I’m kind of thinking if I only put 2 herb pods in a Harvest (which is what I plan), why not just put 2 pods in a Sprout and save space? I don’t know enough to know, though, never having grown with either.

I guess I’m thinking, cost/benefit wise, you get double the pod holes with a Harvest for $100 on sale versus $140 for 2 Sprouts on sale. But, since I will never use all 6 pods of the Harvest, is it better to get a Sprout or 2 for $70 each and have a smaller footprint and flexibility of where to place them. I dunno.

to me ,having 2 sprouts is the same as having 2 AG3s..slimmer, though. ideal for a countertop or a small nook or cranny.

I came to hate those old AG3’s because they took up as much space, almost, as a SS6 - which had 6 pods versus 3!. And the Harvest takes up less space than an SS6 Which is why I’m gun shy now. Hmmm

I planted two Basils and an Oregano in my Sprout. The footprint on these are a regular sheet of paper folded in half Lengthwise. (As a side note, the Harvest is one sheet of paper whole)

I blew it - I fell asleep and missed the deal. Oh well. There’s another, different sale today I might consider.
