I have never planted any of those varieties. I will enjoy watching them grow.

I have a few other varieties but was wary of planting just one of each but next time I may do just that for a wider variety.

All my pods germinated. 7 of the 9 are at the label or above. Two have green in the pod but have not crested. I will post a pic as soon as they grow a tad more.

Nice! I'm growing lettuce for the first time as well--pretty impressed with it so far.
Also looking forward to pictures!

It looks like tipburn. It is caused by a calcium deficiency, but not by a lack of calcium in the nutrients. The plant grows faster than it can uptake the necessary nutrients. Adding calcium will not help.
It is a real problem in some varieties of lettuces.
Advice varies. Some say to keep a fan on them so they draw up water faster. Some say raise the lights. Some say lower the nutrients. If you do a serious search, you will find that there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. Even lettuce farmers have problems with it.
I have not seen it affect loose leaf lettuce, though.
I have a horrible problem with it when I try to grow Parris Island to full size indoors.

I stopped growing romaine-type lettuces (like Parris Is) in my newer (with higher lights) a long time ago. They just can't handle the light levels. Loose lettuce does okay in the newer units. Romaine types do fine with the older units with lower wattage.

What does loose leaf taste like? I do not like bitter at all.

All lettuces taste the same to me. (Which is why I drown them with dressing.)
Corinne is our loose-leaf expert, though.

Cut the lawn for the first time. Look at all these clippings. I made a nice salad. lettuce is in a huge bowl.

I have terminated this garden.
All the varieties were wonderful however I am not liking the way they grew in. It may be that they did not like the way I cut them, or the temps in that room or even the fluctuation of temps from outside.
If anyone wants seeds please PM me (USA only unless I just mail like I do in the US to Canada)

Shawn, I tried the haircut method on my last batch of lettuce, and I did not like the way they grew in, either.
