I looked in my AeroGarden today and discovered that my Tennis Ball Lettuce has its first flower!

I gather you will be saving seeds and regrowing.

I gather you will be saving seeds and regrowing. That's the plan! In the long run I'd like to try cultivating my own varieties of some plants, but I don't have the space for that right now It sounds like continuing to grow the same plant (without crossbreeding) in your environment will get it adjusted to your environment... so if I keep growing Tennis Ball Lettuce, it will be interesting to compare how it grew when I started it compared to 4-5 years from now.

They remind me of buttercups that grow in the grass

They are pretty little flowers. I will enjoy following your project.

Five flowers today! The rightmost one looks a bit deformed, but I love them all the same

Even more flowers now, and it's starting to grow upwards... I'm starting to have doubts about whether or not my plant is actually lettuce. The lettuce flowers I find in Google look more like dandelions, and my flowers are starting to lose their petals. Is there some trick I need to do to get them to pollinate? Lettuce is supposed to be self-pollinating, but I'm wondering if this is some different plant that only develops one type of flower and requires cross-pollination...

Ugh, I think I somehow mixed up the lettuce I started with my bok choy... and I don't think bok choy is self-pollinating, since it's in the same plant family as cabbage.
I'll give it a few more days, but if it still doesn't look promising, I'm going to harvest the plant and start something else.

Woke up to a pile of flower petals around the plant. I harvested it, and this time, I'm going to make sure I'm actually planting lettuce.
