What is everyones opinion on tomatoes in a harvest elite? I finally got my harvest elite slim today and filled it with herbs. However....I already want two more machines! One for tomatoes and one for salad. I now know another harvest is fine for salad but questioning tomatoes. From what I understand, you should only do one tomato plant in a harvest. Looking at AG heirloom or the window box red. Does it work well? I have a tiny apt with no sun on the patio...just speckles. The light is already lighting up my kitchen with the herbs, so I don't think I want to go bigger. I would love too though! It's just me here, so one person. I've been watching the gardens on the forum but most seem to be in Bounties. I know I can toss a towel or foil wall of sorts to cover the light. As long as it's not a fire hazard. My worst fear...lol

I wish I could help you but I am just starting with tomatoes. So I will refrain from commenting and let others chime in. I think others have grown them but I do not know the vendor or variety. Look in the member gardens to see what others have grown in the meantime

I have never grown them in a Harvest, But it seems it would be a bit of a crunch. Going by the AG site specs, the Harvest has a height of 12", and the Heirloom Tom Kit is said to grow 12"-18" tall. YET...one has the option of choosing that kit for the free seed kit when purchasing that machine, so it must be do-able.
Here is a photo of a new grower's Harvest project I cut from the AG site(admin, please delete if I am in violation of the rules)
As you can see, the plant would require some serious pruning to keep it near the hood lights...but it is do-able. The Mighty Mini Kit is perfect for it and will require less 'housekeeping'.The toms are plentiful but small.
This forum has a great search feature on the front page. You could try doing a search for Heirloom Tomatoes or look in the members' garden sections to see if there are any Harvest Tom project ideas if you don;t get a post on it soon.

I also agree that the Aerogarden Mighty Mini Cherry Tomatoes are a great candidate. They're actually very tiny tomato plants compared to the Heirloom ones and required pretty much no maintenance in comparison when I tried them (no photos though, sorry!).
