I've seen a lot of people talking about growing strawberries from crowns, using the expensive flood bed and a coco coir mess... but has anyone else tried growing them from seed? While it's not in an Aerogarden, I got my first flower on a plant that I am growing from seed:

Yes, they do, Shawn. Here are some at Johnny's. I just passed this link to Rick in case he might be interested.

How long does it generally take to grow strawberries from seed? I'd like to do so, purely to avoid bringing bugs in on the crowns.

I've been eyeing the Green Stalk Gardens and have it on my list of things for some distant future...LOL. Anyway, I found this article about How to grow strawberries vertically on their site today. While it isn't AG, there's interesting information about the various types of strawberries and growing them in general. I'm starting to think it may be a project best suited to some outdoor space, vertical or otherwise. Other places, I've read that most plants, grown from seed, won't produce in their first year. Although some may. Not sure I want to dedicate an AG to strawberries for a year or more? Then there is the everbearing vs June Bearing, sheesh! A lot to learn about this little fruit. Not sure how that plays into growing indoors...more to research! And Mikey doesn't even care for strawberries! It is the seeds he doesn't like, so I have to make them into something that I can strain the seeds. More work! LOL. In the meantime, I think I'll just admire those projects on AGA. The Farm24 Basic is likely the perfect spot to grow some cherry tomato plants!
