I'm surprised there aren't more posts about green onion projects - it seems like a perfect plant for the AeroGarden. I love green onions; fresh sliced green onion can do wonders for so many different dishes. I actually have a patch of green onions in a planter box outside my kitchen, but it's the only thing still growing in that box and I'm doubtful it will be around much longer. So when I picked up a Harvest 360 for $40 off Craigslist and it came with an unopened "Grow Anything Kit," I figured this was the perfect opportunity to add some green onions to my indoor Covid Victory Garden. I know the trendy "hack" these days is to replant the roots from store bought onions, but I wanted to start from scratch (this will be my first project from non-AG seeds). I picked up these Heshiko Bunching onion seeds from David's Garden Seeds and dropped three in a pod. Conventional wisdom is no nutrients until it sprouts, right?

I don't know if I'd call it conventional, but the no nutes approach is a great way to avoid algae!

Would you share how it went in the end? Just starting it aerogarden and considering bunching onions

richandsachi, tonydedo has not posted since August, so he probably won't see your post.
I think the clumping onions would probably work. When they start growing you would need to pull the sponge up higher in the basket so the small bulbs have room to expand and multiply.
It's definitely worth a try.
