I've been documenting the flowers coming out of my friend's gardens this year. Here are some of my favorite daylilies that are coming in now (when the deer don't get to them first). Bela Lugosi Daylily Startle Daylily Hot Ember Daylily Marilyn's Mercy Daylily Rocket City Daylily
Jersey Spider Daylily

This is probably heresy to a flower lover, but several parts of wild day lilies are edible:
the corms, young shoots (taste like mild onion), the flowers in salads, dried in soups, and the flower pods boiled as beans, or battered with tempura and fried.
I've tried them all. Not delicious, but decent.

Well, I can tell you the deer love them. My friends are at their wits end trying to keep them away.

I am too. I am going to have to build a 7' high enclosure with fenced top in order to use my square foot gardens next year.
The only place the deer and rabbits don't come is up on my decks. That's why I have my EBs there.

That looks a lot easier than what I was planning. I always over think things.
Thanks!

If it keeps the deer out.
Our back neighbors put pine trees up to line their yard. Bad Move, they have all been eaten up. Now they are bare except for the tops where the deer can not reach. They are not eye pleasing to see.
