Tomato DWC Experiment

I had three tomatoes in the seed starter that needed a home. But I didn't have an available Aerogarden, and I didn't want to pot them.

So I'm trying them in a mini deep water culture.  We'll see how they do. If they thrive and need more room, I'll move one.

One is an orange hat, one is a freebie yellow Venus micro from Renaissance, and I'm not sure what the other one is. I think it's a red micro.

I was so sure I would remember! I need to take lessons from mike on organizing and labeling.

I love the idea of using a small cooler for growing plants in it! Seems like it would be very easy to refill or clean.

I had to cut the top free of the bottom to make it work.

The reason I chose it is that it holds the same amount of water as a Bounty, and I was going after a Bounty-like unit. 

The really nice thing is that it has a handle to carry it with when it's full of water.

mike, do you have any observations or suggestions? Is the water too bubbly?

BTW, the pump is very quiet <40 decibels. But when I put the airstone on the bottom, it vibrated and made a horrific hum. I raised the airstone so it just cleared the bottom, and now I don't even notice the noise. I can hear it, but it is not bothersome.

It looks fine. I ran two airstones in my 10-gallon totes.

The rear plant already has a flower!  And the others have buds.

They are pretty small. I am guessing it's due to my system. I hope they get bigger.
