I removed the smallest jalapeno plants from each standard jalapeno garden to give the best plants space to grow. These are those jalapeno plants moved to an Ultra. These plants are at 22 days.

At this stage, they don't even look like the same pepper!

They aren't the same. The left is Jalapeno M and the right is Early Jalapeno.

I just hope the Early Jalapenos don't get too big too quickly.

Thanks, I missed it, too. But until a year ago my health kept getting worse. I honestly wasn't sure I'd ever get better. I'm still not used to living healthier. More vegetables, more fiber, no alcohol, very few fatty foods, daily walks, the only pain med is aspirin, and who knows what other lousy healthy stuff. But I've gone from 319 lbs. on March 15 to 284 this morning. I just put on sweats to go for my walk around the lake, 1.4 miles. My BP is 120 over 70, and my A1C is 6.9. I may just live.

I love Jalapeño M peppers. I started mine in an AG Harvest in March. Transplanted them outside in late May. My 2 plants have already produced 60 jalapeños each. They are, by far, the most productive jalapeños I have ever grown. I am typically an outdoor gardener and recently (January) got addicted to the AG scene. They also have an amazing flavor. I am not so sure what the M means, but if it implies that they are milder, that is not the case!

The way I understand it is this is the most popular variety in Mexico, hence the name. It is also called Jalapeno Santiago and Jalapeno Jumbo.

Well that explains it! I guess it does not mean mild! LOL. Thanks Mike.

Well, I'm a little confused. I planted the Jalapeno M and Early Jalapeno gardens, 3 plants each on Bounties on 8/16/2020. On 9/07/2020 I moved one plant from each of these gardens to an Ultra to keep the extra plants going. I believe I accidently overfed the two Bounties on the second feeding. Both of those gardens have developed a nasty leaf curl on them. Today, they were due for their third feeding. Well, the combination garden should also be due today, but it says 9 days left until the next feeding. I did change it to match the other gardens on days planted on 9/07/2020. In order to set my mind ay ease, I dumped the water from all 3 gardens and started fresh with 10 ml nutes and 10 ml of Mooch. It's ironic the leaves on the plants on the combination garden are perfect, no leaf curl. They were exposed to the second overfeeding for a week before I moved them. Meanwhile, look at how much taller the Jalapeno M (16 inches) on the far side of the garden is than the Early Jalapeno (11 inches).

That is a mystery. I wonder if the lower wattage light on the Ultra kept the plants from respiring as fast so they drew up fewer nutrients.
The difference in size is one of those little surprises that makes gardening so fascinating.

Added 12 ml Nutes, 10 ml Mooch. On September 7, I started this garden to continue growing the smaller plants from the other Jalapeno gardens. Even then, the Jalapeno M on the left was the runt of the bunch. This Jalapeno took off. It outpaced the Early Jalapeno to such a degree that the 30 watt light couldn't reach the Early Jalapeno plant as the hood had to continually be raised. The Jalapeno M now completely blocks out the light to the other plant. Also, this Jalapeno M plant has three times the peppers the other two Jalapeno M's have on the 45 watt Bounty combined.

Nope, but occasionally I let him listen to his favorite group, the Grass Roots.
