Hi, I've been using distilled water on my tomato plant in my bounty. I'm having great success! The tomato plant is doing great 253 days now and still growing lots of tomatoes. I don't drain my water every two weeks, like I did when using tap water. Also I was having trouble keeping them alive for a 3 or more months. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else have tried using distilled water? An what their results where?

My city tap water was so bad for years. I was buying Distilled gallons and got sick of lugging the jugs from the store and ended up buying a kitchen countertop distiller...went through 2 of them. My toms began to thrive. Then finally they treated the City water and now I have no need of a distiller. But, I hear you..the distilled does make a difference when the toms aren;t doing well on your regular tap water.

I've been using a mix of distilled and RO (reverse osmosis) water, and my plants have been doing great! I've tried using our tap water before but there is so much in it that the seedlings can barely even get started, plus the nutrients weren't mixing into the water and were instead forming a sort of cloudy layer at the bottom.
You may want to pick up a cal-mag supplement (such as CALiMAGic) if you don't have one already, since some distilled water is also stripped of those minerals. (although if your tomatoes are doing great now, you probably don't need it - just something to keep in mind in case you get a different brand of distilled water)

I have never used distilled water. Just use plain old tap.

Thanks for the replys. That's a good idea! I'll add some minerals to make sure the tomatoes are getting enough. Just a little!😉

I live in the country and have a well. After i started the distilled water for the Aerogarden, an had such great results. I now use a Zero water filter pitcher for my drinking water. I think it's probably nitrates in the water. I'll have to have my water checked.

At first, I thought I was over feeding the plant. So on the 3rd feeding i drop the feed in half and go back to full on the 4th. But the leaves started tuning brown after the 3rd feeding and I was getting bud rot on the tomatoes. So, then i thought might be the minerals in the water. So i tried distilled water an so far so good!
