A few weeks ago, I was looking for a new project to entertain me, and the "how to grow strawberries" video posted by @shawn inspired me to order strawberry crowns. aerogardenaddicts.com/thread/1376/strawberry-pdf-videoAfter rattling around in USPS trucks and sorting centers for a month. the crowns finally showed up on New Years Eve. I planted 12. To my surprise, less than 24 hours later, the stems were turning red and leaves were perking up. And tonight, the leaves are starting to unfurl! The guy in the video did say strawberries grow fast in an AeroGarden, but I did not expect those dead-looking plants to come back to life so fast. Can't wait to watch them grow and produce!

What varieties did you both pick? I'm looking at maybe Albion, but it looks like Johnny's Seeds and Burpee both ship crowns in late March.

Same ones and the same reason. That vendor has Albion though.
This works out for me, EVERY SINGLE ONE of my strawberry plants for the last two years have been destroyed by bunnies. I was going to try gutter growing them in the garden this year but this looks like the better solution!

dianne , I am impressed at how very healthy they are. They are definitely healthy! It remains to be seen if they will be tasty. I have tried several times to grow tomatoes in the AG, and I always have healthy plants and plenty of fruit. But the tomatoes never taste tomato-y. So I gave up trying. I am anxious to see how the strawberries turn out.

dianne, tomatoes need much stronger nutrients after they start setting fruit to get a real tomato taste. At that point they thrive on a nutrient strength that would kill a younger plant.
Try again someday! Anyone who could grow Fairy Tale Eggplant like yours and have such healthy strawberries should be able to succeed at anything!

This looks great and awesome! Now I really want to try growing some!
That being said-- I get more ideas and temptations from everyone here than I can grow! Need more time, space, and $$$ lol.
