I'm on Day 25 of my first tomato plant, and already have flower buds above the fifth branch (yay!). Should I still "top" the plant, pruning above the fifth branch? Or since I have buds already should I leave it be?

Hello and welcome. I am not a tomato grower so will not tell you what to do in this situation. If possible, can you post a picture for the members that are? You can find how to post pictures in this thread.

Thanks for your reply Shawn. I had been trying to post a photo for a while. Finally figured it out!

Aerogarden's official instructions say that if flowees have formed, do not top the tomato.
It looks like you are well on your way to baby tomatoes!

Thanks sher. I would like to see what the tomato growers have to say too.

I always top my tomatoes before the flowers form, except for one Kraty Chibikko that was growing taller and faster than I wanted.
It responded by putting out lots of new flowers on the shorter plant.

Thanks, Sher. I wasn't expecting any flower buds so early since the manual calls for pruning at 4-5 weeks. I guess I'll just leave it to grow as it will!

Do you top off all branches at the top? This is my first time growing cherry tomatoes.

normah , topping them is not essential. You can find instructions on how to do it on page 7 of this manual if you want to try it.
What machine will you be growing them in?
And I am so happy to see you posting!

That is a great guide Sher! I wish they included this stuff with the actual gardens/pods for the price we pay

She is way ahead of us on those things! That did look familiar. I am sure I saw/used it the last time I grew tomatoes to completion in an AG (Spring of 2019). I am going to have to re-acquaint myself soon!
