Machine: Bounty Seeds: Pepper Variety: Mini Bell Mix Vendor: Baker Creek Sponges: Park Seed Pods: 3
Seeds per pod: 2-3
Nutrients: 5 ml AG and 1 tsp. 3% H202 to start
I may move one pod to a pot if I need the extra room.

One is above the label, and there is life in the other two pods.

Not a lot of change since last week. I might need to up the nutrients a little bit.
I had a bug hole in one pepper leaf. I decided to try diatomaceous earth instead of spraying. It looks like it worked.
Two pods are up, but I am not sure the center pod will make it. I plan to let the second pepper in the left pod get a little bigger, and then transplant it to the center pod.
(BTW, the dust on the tomato deck in the background is diatomaceous earth that I didn't see before I took the picture.)

Are you sure it was a bug hole and not from the seed casing? Sometimes the casing will rip the leaf.

It was definitely bugs, Shawn. I had them on my other peppers and on my alyssum and nemesias.
I dusted every plant in the house with diatomaceous earth, and I'm hoping it will do the trick.

Do you have dirt plants in your house? I wonder how the bugs got in?

I have 3 potted plants that are in part potting soil and part coco coir. But I sterilized the damp soil and coco coir in the microwave for 10 minutes before I used it. The temperature got up to 180 in them.
Mikkey, my dog goes out and runs around outside often. And Ron has been working picking up small branches that have fallen out of the pines.
Also, it has been abnormally warm here this winter. The high today is 60. The two days following are supposed to be 72 and 70.
So I think maybe Ron and the dog may be bringing bugs in on their clothes and fur.

All three pods are up!
I will wait until they are bigger before I decide which ones to keep.
mike, would you grow one or two mini bells in a Bounty?

I'll be honest, I haven't seen the Mini Belle plant size yet. I would start with two, I think. But you will need to make your decision in 35 days or so on whether to move a single plant to the center. They are supposed to be 24" plants. I only have one sprouted out of four, so far.

This is the bug damage on the first pepper that sprouted. I don't see damage on the other three, so I'll keep up with my pest control efforts and trust they work.

Oof, sorry to hear. Glad the other ones are unaffected so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way 🤞
If it helps, I've used Safer's insecticidal soap (spray) on my pepper plants before and it didn't harm them. Although yours are still just sprouts so it might be too early.

Thanks, hakaku. I have never used insecticidal soap indoors for some reason. It's another good weapon to add to my arsenal!

For now I am leaving two peppers in each pod until I make absolutely sure the bugs are permanently gone.

I removed the smallest plant to give these room to grow. I think they are doing well considering the bug problems when they were tiny.

I found a new bug piercing on the pepper on the right. I removed the affected leaf, and soaked the plant in neem oil again.
I also topped that plant. It doesn't look that healthy to me, and I didn't want it growing into the lights when it gets bigger.
I am not sure whether I will top the plant on the left or not.
Suggestions welcome.

I just drenched the Baby Bells with neem oil. This is what I found after the drenching.
Does anyone know what they are? The long things were probably flying winged things (I am guessing) before being soaked.

On second thought, the bug damage is a lot worse than I thought.
I think I will start purging every plant in my house that shows evidence of bug damage.
So these are going to be toast.
I seem to have my worst failures on GALs.
