New Harvest - super quiet pump or defective?

Hi all!  Just jumped into the aerogarden world with a Harvest.  Only been 3 days since I got it and set it up with the initial batch of herb pods.   I'm realizing now that I've never really heard the pump come on.   The manual says I can test it by pressing the leftmost button on the front -- but when I do that, I can just barely hear a few gurgles and then nothing.

is this thing really THAT quiet, or do I have a DOA pump unit?  

Figured I'd ask here before I disrupt everything and start poking around more.   It's not like there's much setup required for this model though... 3 buttons and a power cord (which is obviously plugged in since the light works just fine).

You should be able to see water flowing where the pods go, lift one out to see. If there’s not water trickling through there’s something wrong... check to see that everything’s connected/completely plugged in

thanks... I was being waaay too conservative about actually looking into how this thing works    Realized I could just lift the whole deck off (no germination quite yet so no roots to even worry about).    With the deck up, I can clearly see that the pump is working and water bubbles up from the little "fountain" in the center.
It *IS* virtually silent though so without actually seeing the bubbles, I'd never know it was running.

Now I just need to be patient and wait for stuff to sprout

I have had the same worry many times. I never hear the pump on my two Harvests, but it does flow!  You can also adjust the water pressure on the pump if you felt it was not strong enough. There is a little dial (hard to reach) with a few notches. Welcome!
