So my brother has an Aerogarden and is growing the basic herb set in sync with me. We're on day 22. He suddenly got this problem on his basil and parsley. Yellowing leaves with black edges on basil, and greyish shrivelled tips on the parsley. Any ideas? Some potentially relevant info- his dill failed to sprout and he said that before he removed it, it had fuzzies on the substrate surface. He covered the empty hole with tin foil. We're not sure if he can just remove the infected plants or if he will completely have to start over. Anyone have similar experience or recognize this disease?

belugaleuca, it looks to me like those are leaves that touched the plastic pod covers before they were removed. The covers should have been removed a little earlier.
I'd just pinch the affected leaves off. The plants should be fine.

Oh no really? We were worried it was infected and going to infect the whole unit so he threw out the thai basil!
I kind of hope you're right though because that would mean the rest of the garden will be fine. But it would be really sad if we threw out a good plant!

I would agree with Sher, they may have touched the dome. Just clicp those leaves off. As for the fuzzies, they are not harmful. Just use a qtip to gently wipe it away. You can see more on the fuzzies here.
We have a lot of helpful information in that thread and board itself

I have just planted Thai Basil and they sprouted last week. The backs of the leaves are black but not "spotted". Is this normal? The Genovese basil has tiny shriveled up black tipped leaves too. The cilantro, peppers and Thyme are fine. Help!
