I am looking for flowers that fit nicely into a short machine .. Sprout and Harvest and I believe the Classics too.
I do know that the following grow nicely in them as I have grown these... ~ Moulin Rouge Pansies ~ Hypoestes ~ Alyssums (Honey Scented) ~ Snaptinis ~ Nano Geraniums ~ Portulaca Happy Hour Mix ~ Several Marigold Varieties ~ Twinny Snapdragons
|
I can not remember if there are more...
Now I would like to ask those who have successfully grown flowers in a short machine (12" hood height) what your grew.

Violas, dianthus and celosia also work in a Harvest. Also cascading petunias.
Sadly, I have no personal experience with mature celosia as bugs wiped mine out when they were small. But I plan to replant them in March.

I bookmarked those seeds.. The celosia seeds I have are the coxcomb, and I like the plumes better.
Mt dianthis started flowering when they were very short. I was disappointed because they were so small. But they grew. After their first round of blooming, I sheared the top 1/3 of them off to stimulate rebloom. Then they got taller. Some were up into the lights. I just trimmed as needed.

These tiny daisies only grow 3-6" tall. They look adorable! They would probably be too short for a Harvest, but perfect in a Sprout.
I found them while looking for seed suppliers near me because I got aggravated that seeds I ordered from California on Feb. 12 have still not arrived.
I don't know anything about this vendor, but do plan to place a test order soon.

OMG! They are adorable and beautiful too! Mikey is finishing a seed box for me...I may need to order some of these too! However, please do keep in mind that there are a lot of "weather delays" happening right now. It may not be the California vendor's fault.

I ordered some of these from Bean Acres! What a great & cute name for a farm/seed company! There's a farm down the street from me that seems to grow a huge field of flowers, for a short time, every year. I've wondered if they have some kind of seed business. But, out here in the country, one doesn't just stop by unannounced!

campingcorgis Are you going to take pictures of it when you get the seeds? I'd love to see it!
