Does anyone know of good fitting deck boxes? The ones that sit on a standard deck rail? Maybe ones that hang off the post?
I had some but only lasted one year.

Sorry I can't help, Shawn.
The only thing I know is to do an image search, then read the reviews of any you find that you like.

I never did get any deck boxes or hanging plants this year. However I am going to look for some. I may be able to find some at a reduced price soon and then I will put them away for next year.

That is smart preplanning!

Okay, TOTALLY different, but something I have on my list to try, someday... GreenStalk Gardens - something about these in particular are rather attractive to me. I like the watering system they designed, and I've always liked the look of these stacking systems. One day, I would love to grow a bunch of poinsettias to make a unique Christmas Tree, of sorts? But I could see growing strawberries, lettuce and lots of other things too. Maybe just flowers. Flowers do brighten things so much, don't they?

I have stuck the Greenstalk Tower in my cart several times, but changed my mind.
You do have to leach and recondition the soil in a Greenstalk tower.
I would really love to have the hydroponic Garden Tower, but no way am I going to pay their ridiculois prices!

I have seen t hose but the squirrels would have a field day with those, not that they dont with the others. I also do not want a tower on the deck. Just a couple of hanging ones. I appreciate the find however

I am going to try the GreenStalk garden on my apartment patio.
On a side note, I started feeding grain to doves that showed up, then peanuts to jays that showed up, then un-shelled nuts to squirrels that showed up. The squirrels completely destroyed a jade plant I had growing by eating the leaves and jumping on the stems. Perhaps they will eat and destroy everything in the GreenStalk as well.

Did you order a GreenStalk? I bought one this year and used it to grow greens and herbs with mostly good results. I've seen people growing lots of peppers in the GreenStalks! It is really windy here -- 40-50 mph is not that unusual in the spring -- the 5-tier GreenStalk can be blown over. When I moved it to a location protected from the prevailing wind, the amount of direct sun wasn't ideal and some plants didn't perform as well. The rotating/wheeled bases are well made and useful. It is so handy to be able to rotate the unit 360 degrees. The watering system performs as advertised although I had to give sprouting seeds supplemental water in my arid climate. My goal is to find a better location for it next season.

lynnee , I have the 5 tier original (the stone color). At first, I only ordered the "mover" wheeled base but decided to add the "ultimate spinner" base later. Due to a shipping mix-up, I received an extra wheeled base. They told me to keep it rather than ship it back. Nice. A large ceramic container is riding around on it now, but someday it may get it's own GreenStalk.

I got the 3 tier original. Looks like I am in zone 9b and I am attempting some garlic and carrots in 2 tiers. Not sure this will be successful as we are heading into winter but I should get some experience with the GreenStalk garden for spring. Greenstalk shows frost covers but they have been out of stock. I will probably need to get something from Amazon.
I didn't see this until after I had my 3 tier original. 3 tiers are the original (larger) and 3 tiers are the smaller size. Larger plants or root vegetables in the larger tiers and herbs and such in the smaller tiers sounds great to me.

I have some growth in the GreenStalk. Four pockets planted with Nootka Rose garlic are doing the best. All pockets are growing with some over an inch tall. No activity from four pockets of Killarney Red garlic. Four pockets of carrots show small spouts.

GreenStalk has their frost covers in stock now so I ordered one as well as some leaf tiers and watering trays to construct the 3 original tier, 3 leaf tier setup I linked previously (as well as get free shipping).
