I have decided to go a different route on hole spacing than Mike's approach.
In my grow tent, my plants grow large. One large bok choy or one large romaine will provide me much more food than several small plants. And large plants need room to spread out to reach their potential.
Right now, 6 large romaines provide more lettuce than we care to eat when harvested several large leaves at a time.
And I usually harvest my bok choy's large outer leaves, but sometimes I do harvest the whole plant.
So since this is what my plants look like, I will probable do 6 holes per tote. That will be crowded, but should provide perpetual salads for us.
