Here it is again, the second round of radishes! This time there's two varieties of radish: German Giant (Burpee) Cherry Giant (Burpee) Started: April 4, 2021 Once again it's the DIY tank with the silicone muffin tray, Light: Phillips LED Plant Light 15.5 W Aeration: 1W air pump with air stone Fertilizer: Miracle Grow (mid-way I had to add some Cal Mag since the radishes were showing deficiencies)

Update April 18 (Day 14) If you look closely you can see the Cherry Giant row is having noticeable nutrient deficiencies. It's showing in the younger leaves, meaning that it's probably not nitrogen. Since Miracle Grow doesn't have Calcium or Magnesium, I figure it might be magnesium (or iron). So I added some Cal Mag (according to the instructions) and thankfully the yellow spots went away, and the plants grew bigger

April 22 update (Day 18) Some are starting to bulb-up! As suggested by the wonderful aerogardeners on this forum, I pushed up the sponge so the radish doesn't get stuck in the pod.

Ok ready to taste test! April 28 (Day 24) it's early according to the packets but two of the radishes are ready. German Giant on the right, Cherry Giant on the left. Funny because the Cherry Giant was larger at first, but very quickly the German Giant caught up and now it is larger! As for taste, the German Giant was decidedly sweeter, and the Cherry Giant was more crunchy. Both had a very very mild spice. Both would be great in a salad. I'm making salad with the fresh leaves plus a bit of lettuce for dinner. German Giant is 11 cm circumference, around 1.5 inches diameter.
