I'm a huge fan of AG cascading petunias. When they start to bloom, I transfer them to pots with potting soil. (I pull them straight up out of the grow deck, trying to be gentle with the roots. If the roots of several plants are entangled, I cut the roots apart from below. ) Once the petunias are in pots, I water the heck out of them for several days. (After all, they've been growing in water.) The petunias thrive in a spot that gets full sun in the afternoon. This year's crop had deep blue and dark plum petunias, as well as pink and white.

Ditto! Very pretty and inspirational too! My MIL loves plants and flowers. I'm thinking it might be nice to grow some to gift to her in a planter of some sort. Or I could "borrow" one of her planters and return it renewed!

My cascading petunias are ready to take from aerogarden to soil. I'm wondering if mushroom mix is suitable for planting them in.

i don't have an answer to your specific question, but I'm sure somebody else will.
When I have grown petunias outdoors, they have done well in planters filled with container potting soil amended with regular compost.

I'm wondering if mushroom mix is suitable for planting them in. depending on what your mixing it with i don't see a problem, actually the mushroom is just myco (thats what mycorrhizal fungi is) so that will actually help with the transplant shock depending on the kind of myco

Hi whitedoveh! I have no experience with mushroom mix, but my petunias do fine in potting soil.

Thanks....I planted them in a pot with a mixture of sand and mushroom compost.....hopefully they make it....roots looked good ok i can see a few problems, just mushroom compost won't give it the micro or macro nutrients that a properly mixed soil would supply. When making your own soil mix you should be using something like a 1/3 scale (1/3 soil, 1/3 compost, 1/3 aeration) right now when you go to water that sand is going to either take the moisture from the soil where it would actually do some good and/or the sand will shift and eventually either build up in one section or if there is proper drainage then it will wash away.
and when you do your mixing you really got to be careful cause certain things you can add in the soil can imbalance the nutrient values and throw them off completely, i don't suggest soil building to someone who really isn't a soil scientist its a very very complex science. if you want a company that you can just drop and water i would highly suggest build-a-soil they have nutrient readout on their products and only use organic material.

whitedoveh, I am growing a pepper and houseplants in nothing but coco coir, which has almost no nutrients.
i just water them with Aerogarden nutrients and they are thriving.

The plants are used to growing in water, so you won't drown them. I just keep the soil very moist, by watering at least once each day. The extra watering seems to help them adjust to life outdoors.

If you haven't tried the cascading petunias, you should.
Really fun and easy to grow.
They are bountiful and beautiful!
and they smell good too!
I put these in a harvest elite and set it on a stool. They are about to reach the floor.
