Well, we got it done. Let's just say, it is so simple that a 6-YO could probably do it. That said, it isn't so easy for a couple of 60-something-year-olds! Arrrrrghhhh! The instructions look simple, but when one is actually doing it, there are some very questionable instructions there. But, we got it done, got the settings all set too. See picture below. I've got the new/proper felt in the right-hand side and a cut-to-size True Leaf version in the left hand side. It is easy to see that the proper one allows the flow of water much better. And the left hand one wants to expand more, so I should have cut it a bit smaller than the proper one. Anyway, can't wait to see the progression. Should be very quick to happen!

Can't wait to them grow and how fast Me too! We're already planning their uses! LOL...both of us. One observation is that it is noisier when the pump is running. Like a little waterfall. Doesn't bother us, just noticed it. Now Cadie, she is a funny girl...it seems like every time we use the kitchen sink, she's starts asking to go out, she's got to pee. So far, the fountain sound isn't causing the same reaction...thankfully!

Today I started a microgreens garden in my new Bounty Elite. (Aerogarden has them on sale.) The instructions were pretty clear, but I had trouble telling when the water reached "Fill to Here". Got too much water in, had to siphon some out. Now the display tells me that the water level is "Medium". Is that what happened to you? I did remove the float from the Bounty bowl. There are 4 tsp. of seeds on each felt piece.

Yes, lynnee, I agree, it is tricky to find the right level for the water! I did okay on the initial fill up, but then I thought it needed water and added some, but it really didn't need any, as it had just finished a pump cycle and the water was still draining. So, then it was over filled and I had to remove what I had just put into it! So, one needs to wait a bit after it has cycled before checking the water level. I'm glad to see that the too small felt is working for you! I thought that many might roll off with the initial flooding of the trays, but I guess not? And, yes, mine is stuck at medium too. I think it is just remembering the last signal it got from the previous garden grown. Wait until you see the pictures for today!! They are already about 1-1.5 inches tall now!

What kind of microgreens are you growing? Radish? It is the AG Spicy Microgreens Mix that came with the kit. It says: Daikon and Purple Radish, Green and Red Mustard, Arugula and Cabbage - I didn't want to do Wheatgrass and Mikey can't have broccoli, so that left the Spicy mix. So, yes, there's some Radish in there! I expect to try it in a couple of days, at this rate!

My microgreens are sprouting away. The recommended 2 tsp. of seeds for each felt piece is a bit generous. Some of the seeds and sprouts have washed into the bowl. I changed the water today, as the directions say to do it once or twice a week. Now I'm thinking that microgreens may be more trouble than they're worth. π€¨ campingcorgis, do you know whether the felt is reusable? AG is sold out of felt at present, so I ordered some from True Leaf.

AG is sold out of felt at present, so I ordered some from True Leaf. I haven't changed the water yet! I'm thinking I might harvest, at least some, tomorrow. I would have done so for lunch today, but want to make sure there are not any digestive issues today, as we have a club dinner meeting tonight (well, just sack sandwich meals). I agree that microgreens in the traditional grow method are a pain. So far, so good with the AG for me. Nope, the felt will be dissolved with a single use. Not reusable. I got some from True Leaf too...I would cut is just a tad smaller than the bowl, as it tends to expand more. At first, it didn't seem to work as well as the AG felt, now, it is hard to tell the difference. I think you'll be fine with the substitution!

Did the R&R just now, thanks to lynnee's reminder! I'm so used to the AG's telling me what to do and when! Maybe AG will come out with an update that will help with Microgreen gardens!?

Day 6 - Started using these and they are a very tasty addition to a salad. Will likely use more on today's pita wrap sandwich for lunch!

It looks like one of those nice shrubbery people use as fencing. But cute and nicer LOL...it does, kind of look like that. Or a tad like a dichondra lawn? Mikey's grandpa loved dichondra and boy did Mikey get in trouble if something happened to that lawn! It was ready to try on Friday, but we had a club meeting Friday night and I wanted to make sure there were no digestive issues, so we waited until Saturday to try it. Good stuff and we'll use more today. I do think my next microgreens garden will take advantage of the split trays to grow 2 different things. AG says you can grow bean sprouts but I don't see the seeds offered on their site, so I'll try seeds I got from True Leaf. We love mung bean sprouts on salads and in stir fries. They can be tricky to find at the grocery store since Kroger stores don't sell them. They say they are recalled too often. So I can't go to Fred Meyer or QFC...and I don't think Walmart carries them either...well, not as a fresh in produce anyway.

Note to self: The AG felt holds up a bit better than the TL felt, making harvesting the greens a tad easier.

How long do you intend to keep the sprouts growing? A week? Two weeks? The AG instructions mention changing water at least once a week, but they also suggest that you plant the trays 4 days apart, "so you will always have microgreens". That would maybe suggest changing the trays but keeping the water? I overfilled my setup again today, and was dismayed when my AG siphon stopped working. How do you break a siphon? Turns out that a few of the sprouts were in the bowl and were sucked up so that they were blocking the tube at the corner under the orange bulb. FWIW, Amazon has the same siphons as AG sells, and they're much cheaper. Happily I don't need another one. π
