I got these seeds from eBay a long time ago - the packet says it is from "Don and Janet’s Heirloom Seeds", but I cannot find a website for them. I moved one seedling into a 11.5oz can and filled it with nutrient solution. (6ml/gallon AG) The tomato is an indeterminate variety so I may not be able to get tomatoes from it, but I am hoping that between the small container and pruning, I'll be able to keep it at a small size.

I'll be interested in whatever you try with an indeterminate. It will make my husband very happy if I succeed with the green zebras.

The only other time I tried an indeterminate was in a 5-gallon bucket DWC - which (as I should have known before I started) outgrew the grow tent and actually started growing outside the tent through the ventilation holes.

Oh, dear! Here's hoping that the Snow White will be more cooperative!

Error, what are those red balls around the peat? I am curious how a white tomato will taste.

Error, what are those red balls around the peat? I am curious how a white tomato will taste. Those are hydroton (or clay pebbles) - they don't do a good job at wicking up water, but they are reusable, help hold the plant in place, and prevent light from reaching down into the nutrient solution and letting algae grow. Some people use just hydroton for starting (larger) seeds so that they don't have to purchase a growing medium like the foam cubes I use, rockwool, or the AeroGarden pods - but I just use it as a filler material.

I was expecting this plant to stay short, but instead it seems to be growing a tall stem. I am planning to transplant it outdoors once things warm up, so the long stem will give it a lot to root from - but if I had been growing this from seed outdoors, I would fear that it would topple itself over.

Ended this today - the roots developed some type of white mold and the plant quickly died out, which was odd. It was doing well, but I am not sure if a leaf or something else from another plant might have fallen into the reservoir.
