I planted two pods of Mocha Swirl sweet peppers last night.
I can't wait to see them grow and mature!

You're very welcome, Sher! Mine germinated right away, and I'm going to separate the seedlings this afternoon. 🌶

Very nice. I need to get my gardens cleaned up so I can plant some.

One pepper is doing better than the other, but they are both okay.
lynnee, do you think I could grow both in the Bounty, or should I thin them to one?

lynnee , do you think I could grow both in the Bounty, or should I thin them to one? You can definitely grow two peppers in a Bounty, placed at opposite ends like you have them. I had many harvestable peppers on both of my Blazing Banana and Shishito pepper plants; and on both of a pair of green bell peppers. You can always take a poor performer out later.

The pepper on the left looks much healthier than the one on the right for some reason.
The roots look about the same.

The pepper that was not doing well developed round brown soft spots in its leaves, so I had to remove it.
The other one looks healthy. I am adding a teaspoon of peroxide to the water once a week to protect it from whatever the other one got.
(Sorry about the reused Thai Basil label.)

I discovered the problem.
The water Is HOT!
I am going to install a spare pump and see if it helps.

Oh, it's too bad that you removed the little pepper already. I hope that the pump helps. What about ice cubes?

A rocket scientist I am not!
The problem was that this Bounty was on a shelf above another Bounty. The heat from the lower Bounty's hood was heating the water.
I used Command strips to hold up an insulating piece of yoga mat below the top shelf, and I am hoping it solved the problem.
lynnee, all is not lost. I plan to take a cutting as soon as the plant is big enough and clone the Mocha Swirl.

Who'd've anticipated that? It's something good to know about. Insulation ought to do the trick. I feel sorry for the little pepper plant though. I need to get over identifying with my AG plants--as my grandfather always said about the farm animals, "Don't make pets of them!"

It is a sad loss after you nurture and have such bright hopes for the little plant's future.

Yes but the good thing is that they can be grown any time of the year and restarted the same

I hope your pepper keeps growing well - I can relate to the temperature struggles!

I am thrilled. This is the first pepper I have grown that has branched at the top without my having to top it.
If you expand the photo, it looks like there may be tiny buds there, too. At 29 days!
This plant's top was becoming a light yellow green until I added 2 ml Calmag. Now it, and its roots, look perfectly healthy!

That is wonderful. Depending on how tall or how far along it is, I usually carefully take the buds off. This helps the plant grow opposed to the energy going to the flower at first. But do not listen to me LOL. I always ask mike for his advice.
