Wow! Your photos don't look washed out to me! The garden is fabulous! I like to shell peas while watching TV, but I wouldn't like shelling them at your place! It wouldn't occur to me to remove the little nib. Does it taste bitter? I'm kind of like your wife--I like canned string and green beans far better than fresh ones. Have you tried growing green beans like Blue Lakes? Those I like when they're fresh.

The nib tastes like peas! The beans I have growing are Emerite I picked it because I thought she didn't like the string.. and these are supposed to be stingless.. then I found out it was the fuss.. Time will tell.. I will eat them if she doesn't like them.. It is all about what your mom and dad liked... She at canned I ate Frozen french cut.. the things our parents do to us...

You're right. I grew up eating lots of canned green and string beans, and canned peas. I actually like canned peas (way better than frozen!), though I like fresh shelled peas better than canned.

i have always hated canned green peas. When we were kids, Mom would make us eat our vegetables, but we didn't have to finish the mashed potatoes. So I would hide my green peas under my potatoes.
Other than canned green peas (and cooked radish leaves), I will eat anything and enjoy most.
I think being a military wife and being exposed to all kinds of ethic foods helped with loving to experiment.

Nobody but me actually likes canned peas, Sher! My other culinary quirk is that I don't like watermelon. 🍉 I once stated that fact a bit too loudly in a restaurant, and everyone nearby turned their heads to look! Do you ever grow watermelon, airscapes?

I tried once but there is a pest called a Cucumber Beatle that carries a virus that kind of kill any plant in the Cucurbits family .. so no luck with pumpkins or watermellons. ..Also do not have the room for large vine plants.. they really do need a field. This was from 2012

Picked the first of the string beans today.. having them for dinner will update once they are eaten.. Picked them early.. Yum! My favorite way to eat green beans fresh from the garden is boiled with small red new potatoes. Your picture makes my mouth water!

Nothing better then fresh picked produce that you grow and eat. I hope they tasted as good as they looked.

Wife said they taste green.. like grass.. And I do agree no bean taste, so next batch will be allowed to mature a bit more.. Just figured baby lima beans are really better tasting than mature so would try that with the string beans. Wife also does not like fresh beans with the fuzzy skin, so picked them before the got fuzzy.. Will update in a day or so.. They grow sooo fast tiny beans yester day look like what is in the photo today.

Is there a photo included in the 6/21/22 post, airscapes? EDIT: Just asking, because sometimes photos that are present don't show up on my iPad unless I use a VPN. It's something about how iOS views the security of web sites.

No photos, not much changed. Tomatoes 6" taller, Peas cam out, Lima beans seeds in.. so not much point in pic of the same stuff. Next week probably will add the next layer of tomato support and maybe limas will germinate... I messed up and planted too many onions (well I was not going to plant lama beans when I made those decisions). So planted them where peas were and it is rather late in the season for a crop that is 75 days to maturity and does not like the heat all that much.. Also was going to plant carrots where the liams are now.. so they will end up where they were last year.. not the best plan..

So I was out doing some tomato maintenance at lunch, tying a few branches up and pinching shoots and what to my surprise.. first breaker of the year! It is one of Bunny Hops (Heritage Seeds) Determinate plants call "Sweet for Children" which is like a mini plum.
