After cleaning and sanitizing my Harvest Slim following the Tom Thumb peas, I decided to plant some fancy lettuce seeds I got from Baker Creek.
On the left is Yedikule and on the right is Forellenschluss (it took me several tries to type that name 😅). They were both planted at the same time initially, but the Forellenschluss didn't germinate so I had to throw another few seeds in there and those ones finally came up. That's why the Yedikule is so much bigger - it's older!
These are both Romaine-types, and my hope is that they're a good bit crunchier than the leaf lettuce I've tried in my Aerogardens. I'm planning to let them get as big as they want to get (unless they outgrow the Harvest Slim) and just take the outer leaves until they bolt.

The one on the left is really pretty.
Here's wishing you lots of crunchy lettuce leaves to enjoy!

I tried the Forellenschluss in my last lettuce garden. It was really slow to germinate and got dominated by the other varieties I had in the bounty. Since it was behind the others in size, I only got a taste of it by the time it was ready to crap-out the garden. It was pretty nice with it's speckled leaves. Had a nice taste and pretty crispy.

I'm glad to hear that I wasn't alone in having some slow Forellenschluss!
Today I finally got the CALiMAGic I ordered, and I added 2 ml to the Harvest Slim.

I think the CalMag helped lol
Right after this photo was taken I harvested a bunch of leaves from the Yedikule and enjoyed a lovely salad. There's an aftertaste to it which I really enjoy but that I couldn't quite place, until I remembered eating slices of cucumber peel as a kid. It's that savory, slightly bitter greeny taste. Very nice!

Thank you Shawn! I'm very happy with the Yedikule and I'll definitely grow it again in the future.
It's so prolific! I keep picking leaves for salads and it keeps replacing them faster than I pick them. They're nice and crunchy too, which is something I love with lettuce.

It's nice to have prolific lettuce, but it can be hard figuring out what to do with it all! Yours is so photogenic!

It's beautiful, areyoukittenme. And even more important is the crunch and good taste! I'm happy for you!

Just a little lettuce update!
I'm enjoying the Forellenschluss as a decorative plant much more than as a salad green - although it's perfectly fine for that. I love the way it looks! And the Yedikule is growing like wild as always. We keep yanking off the outer leaves to eat and it keeps growing more.

Well, the Yedikule has bolted so no more tasty leaves from that one. After about a solid month of harvests from it I can't complain!
After removing it from the Harvest, I gave the remaining Forellenschluss an R&R and a shot of hydrogen peroxide, since the roots were looking just a tiny bit dingy. We'll see if it enjoys having the unit to itself now!

Don't you hate it when they bolt? It will be interesting to see what the Forellenschluss does as a solo. It sure looks healthy.

Cold water and ice cubes help it from bolting or so I hear. But the other lettuce should enjoy the room to grow and give you more to eat.

Well it certainly is enjoying the extra room!
I almost feel bad for making it share a unit with the Yedikule, since clearly that was holding it back. Next time I'll know better!

The Forellenschluss is bolting now. I almost wish I'd planted it in a taller unit so I could let it go to flower since I enjoy looking at it so much. Alas, it's only in a Harvest Slim and the light height is maxed out, so I'll need to end this in the next day or two.
