I grabbed a random selection of pepper seeds from my local store - cayenne, jalapeno, and "kim chi" pepper. Unlike my herbs, I had a 100% germination rate! I kept one plant of each, and replanted the rest outside. Also pictured, a habanero in a pot. I didn't do much research into how big these guys get - so it will be a true experiment.

Well those peppers died a tragic death. I went on vacation for one week, and set the garden to "vacation mode." I came back to find them all dead.
I tried replanting using the same seed source - but nothing grew. Not even the herbs. It's almost as if the water itself were contaminiated.
Weird.

My plants stall when their room gets very hot in the daytime. It can make the water in the bowl too warm for them to grow.

Also did you put the lights all the way up? Was the pump plugged in? As lynnee mentioned, room temp? Was there a breeze on them? I have never left my plants alone except for my hospital stays but that was only 3 days and someone was home too.
