Today, after 45 days, I transplanted four dianthus pods from a wireless Bounty to pots outdoors. I left the Wave Purple Tie Dye Petunia in the Bounty to see how much it will grow. I started the garden with 9 pods, but 4 of them fizzled. One petunia pod germinated and still has tiny green leaves, so I left it even though I think it is kaput. The cascading petunia seeds are very hard to get. I've dosed the petunia with CalMag to help with the pale leaves--it may need a bit more soon.

I love them, and I don't even like purple! The petunias themselves are very dainty--about half the size of the AG cascading petunias.

The Purple Tie Dye petunia went outdoors today. I transplanted it to "Raised Bed Soil" that I had on hand. The red Dianthus is in a potting mix intended for hanging baskets, which has peat moss and vermiculite instead of soil. The Dianthus plant on the right has bloomed since it was transplanted about a week ago.

Tooting my own horn, but I love the Purple Tie Dye petunias from Park Seed! The flowers are petite, about half the size of the flowers on the AG Cascading Petunias, and this adds immensely to their charm.

The AG Dianthus pod that was transplanted outdoors at the same time as the Purple Tie Dye Petunias and Red Dianthus is also doing well. It's amazing how consistent the AG Dianthus is. It's been cloudy, so the photo doesn't really do the flowers justice. The main part of the petals looks more white than pale pink.

The Shock Wave Tie Dye petunias continue to spread out, and the red dianthus continues to bloom. These plants explain why I'm not buying nursery plants any more! The petunias don't even need to be deadheaded.
