Has anyone in this group heard of basil 'aging-out'? I saw on a facebook group posting that someone had a plant that was a year old, and, is still getting clippings from it. I have a plant that is a cutting from a previous plant. The leaves are nice in the green color, however, when I pinched some leaves and did some drying-out, the leaves had brown'ish spots all over them. I've pinched and dried-out multiple times from this same plant, so, just curious why it would suddenly start showing spots on the leaves while drying-out. For reference, the leaves on the left are a few days into drying-out process. The leaves on the right were picked today....... from the same plant.

gardengirl55, someone here is sure to know the answer to your question. Even though I don't grow basil very often, I'm looking forward to finding out what's causing the spots.

When I trim, I lay out the leaves on a bunch of paper towels laid flat and roll them up into a roll. Then I put that in a ziplock bag in the freezer. When I need some herbs, I roll it out and use them frozen. They are dark colored but they taste just as good as fresh.
