Ok, I’ve taken a page out of Dawn’s book and planted some sacrificial cilantro (and a parsley) to take advantage of the long germinating pepper seed and low hood for as long as it’s low. I might end up liking this way better, even, than the normal route, because it will force me to use the herbs and terminate before it gets old and bitter. I tend to hang onto my herb gardens way too long. I’m thrifty (and lazy) that way.

Oh no, with adding the herbs, I kind of rearranged things, and I no longer know which is the pepper pod. I know eventually it will be clear, but that is only if it germinates. Until then, I don’t know which troubled ones are which.

Bigger. Looking a little pale. I just fed it so we’ll see if it greens up. I’ve got to snip one out soon. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t put these 2 seeds in their own sponges, because I could’ve grown both plants that way. I guess I can try to grow roots on the snipped one, but it doesn’t work as well for peppers. (Note the empty holes where the cilantro had been, now moved to their own garden. I still have 1 cilantro and 2 parsley here)

It’s definitely time to snip out my 2nd pepper and let the remaining plant have the space. But after my back to back hikes (I foolishly went again yesterday) I really can’t get that far down on the floor today. Doubt I’d be able to get back up.
My contractor came yesterday to take measurements to make a double stand so that I can properly raise the hood of this lower unit. If I could raise the hood enough, I wouldn’t have to get completely down on the ground to see what I’m doing. That will be a big help and I’m looking forward to it.
Hm, come to think of it, maybe I should ask him to add just enough width to accommodate a Sprout next to the Bounty on each level.

8 days later and they’re double. What herbs you’re seeing in the background are 2 pods of parsley on the right that have finally gotten traction, and a pod of cilantro behind the peppers. I’ve seeded some new baby herbs too.

I love the pepper which is coming right along. However, I am impressed by the parsley which looks so green and is really growing because I NEVER have luck with healthy herbs other than basil.

I hear you. I have had lots of bad experiences with cilantro, and parsley too. So I’m happy these look good. I have thinned the peppers down to 1 and placed the other in water in case I have luck rooting it. It wilted right away after cutting but then perked up very quickly in the nute water so I am cautiously optimistic.

I am impressed at your projects with veg cuttings! I have never tried that, and ALWAYS just toss the extra seedling that comes up with the initial seeding before choosing .

Looks kinda the same, I guess, which surprises me a bit. At least as to the herbs. (Not that they matter in this GAL)

My cutting isn’t rooting so far. Which is a shame as there are already buds on it.
